Founded in 1984, Botel Asset Management (called Penn Center Investments before 2006) is a principal only, wealth management firm. This structure puts us in a unique position to advise our clients...without bias or agenda. Located in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, we help individuals, families and small companies throughout the country, from Philadelphia to Palm Beach to San Francisco.
Principals Rob and Max Botel handle every account personally. Very personally. That means you can actually reach them to talk about anything from your portfolio to your grandchildren to your golf handicap. There’s no institutional pressure, no cookie-cutter systemized advice. No agenda. (And maybe that’s why we were recently cited as a Five-Star Financial Advisor by Philadelphia magazine.)
We operate our business in partnership with Dallas-based Prospera Financial Services, an independent, full-service firm. This relationship allows us to focus on what we do best – working with our clients. In business since 1982, Prospera is frequently named Broker-Dealer of the Year by Investment Advisor. Prospera, along with its clearing firm, First Clearing LLC (a non-bank affiliate of Wells Fargo), handles our back-office duties, including transaction processing, accounting and bookkeeping, custody services, statement processing and regulatory oversight.
When you work with Botel Asset Management, you always work with a Botel. A founding partner who is here for the long-term – understanding your situation, remembering the details and helping you craft and manage a financial plan that fits. Rob and Max Botel are a family who treats clients like family. Get to know them here – and learn more about how Botel Asset Management can help you.
Rob Botel, CFP®
Rob is a history buff who likes to explore new travel destinations and stay on top of the latest non-fiction. After graduating from Penn and earning his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, he realized just how strong his interest in investing was when he started reading the business section before the sports section. Still an avid sports lover, he likens Botel Asset Management’s investment philosophy to a solid football strategy: “Your defense needs to be stronger than your offense. Keep things in balance and don’t take risks when the opportunity is not there.”
As the economic climate changes, this approach has worked for the firm. “Twenty years ago, information was sought after,” Rob explains. “Today, it’s available for free to anyone. We bring value in how we use that information – our judgment, interpretation, discipline and patience. We’ve helped clients navigate the tech stock downfall and the real estate boom and bust. We are here to manage expectations and emotions.”
Out of the office, Rob likes to spend time with his family, especially teaching his son about the joys of swimming, biking and tennis.
Max built Botel Asset Management the same way he built his professional life... carefully and gradually following his passions. His ethic is grounded in old-fashioned, hard work – studying accounting at Temple while preparing tax returns at his brother’s firm...graduating from Temple Law School and developing a business-focused practice...exploring his affinity for the stock market...and eventually establishing his asset management firm. Always transitioning from one business to the next according to a precise, thoughtful plan.
So Max knows that being small doesn’t mean being limited. The company’s size allows the Botels to offer truly personal service to a select group of clients who benefit from the close connection. These days, Max divides his time between Philadelphia and Florida, where he regularly hits the links and loves to talk investments with his peers. This combo fits his style perfectly. “Our approach to investing is a lot like how I play golf,” he says. “We don’t go for the low percentage shot. But we’re still out to win.”
When it comes to safeguarding your assets, there’s no such thing as being too careful. That's why we operate our business in partnership with two trusted industry experts, recognized for their expertise and responsible practices. Their dedication to the client is a rare quality in today’s investment world.
